Amin Kamil is no more
Srinagar: Veteran Kashmiri writer, well known literate and one of the great poets, Mohammad Amin Kamil passed away. Kamil who was not keeping well for some time had been putting up with his elder son, Anees-u-Rehman for last one month in Jammu. The end came there early Thursday morning.
Kamil was known as a frontline trend-setter poet, writer and critic of Kashmiri language, and was the recipient of various prestigious awards for his literary works including the coveted Sahitya Academy award.
Kamil had written various books in Kashmiri language including his critical essays and poetic works. Some of his works havebeen translated in English language. His death is a irreparable loss to Kashmiri language.
Meanwhile, Adbee Markaz Kamraz on Thursday condoled the sad demise of valley’s renowned poet and writer Amin Kamil who passed away for heavenly abode this morning in Jammu.
Kamil had relentlessly worked for the promotion and preservation of Kashmiri language and literature for almost half century has had a pivotal role in liberating the Kashmiri Gazal from its traditional hangover and brought it close to contemporary realities with extra ordinary literary excellence, a Markaz statement said.
