Rahimiya keeps it simple
Srinagar: Though Prime Minister Narendra Modi may have given Rs 570 Crores for the rebuilding of homes in Srinagar and the State government giving away cheques raging form Rs 5000-75000 but the Daar ul-Uloom Rahimiyah has decided to take the simpler route.
The religious organization under the watch of Maulana Rahmatullah has already provided 43 huts to the flood affected families of Mehjoor Nagar whose homes were completey destroyed.
Besides handing over huts, the organization also repaired the rooftops of more than 26 houses in the same locality. While talking to Kashmir Monitor Maulana Rahmatullah head of the organisation said that they were very happy to hand over the keys of the huts to the families whose homes were completed damaged. “Today we completed the building of 43 huts in Mejhoor Nagar besides repairing the rooftops of many houses. The work is going on in other parts of Valley too,” he said.
“The hut is 18X16 feet comprising of a bedroom, a sitting kitchen and washroom,” Rahmatullah said.
While people are still awaiting government help, Dar ul-Uloom Raheemiyyah has finished the task in one locality and are now heading towards Mansoor Colony Bemina where work is on to build 60 huts for the homeless families.
“We have also started building huts in Bemina where flood wreaked havoc. After that we will be moving towards Pulwama villages of Panzgam and Khandaypur where many have lost their homes,” Maulana Rahmatullah said.
The Darul Uloom’s quite but effective relief has provided a shelter to many homeless families , leaving many wondering why the state government can’t do the same despite having all the resources.
Not only the building of huts, the religious organization has also distributed relief worth lakhs among roadside vendors. “We have already distributed relief cheques worth lakhs among roadside vendors. Cheques ranging for Rs 8000 to 1000 were given to Patriwalas and other roadside vendors whose work got affected due to floods,” Rahmatullah said.
The Dar ul-Uloom Rahimiyah helped the Auto-rickshaw drivers who were totally neglected by government and other agencies. “We repaired more than 110 auto rickshaws who were damaged in floods. Auto-rickshaw drivers were jobless so we thought of repairing them and expenditure on each auto was near about Rs 1500,” Maulana Rahmatullah said.
Maulana appreciated Muslims for donating money for the flood victims whole heartedly. “We are thankful to our brothers who are monetary helping us so that we reach out to the people and help them. Everyone is praying for the welfare of our people and we are just helping them,” Maulana Rahmatullah said.
