Farooq continues to be union minister

At least on NC’s website

Srinagar: The government might have changed at the Center with Narendra Modi leading the pack, but for the National Conference (NC) there is still the UPA government at New Delhi, as its patron Farooq Abdullah is holding the post of Union Minister for New and Renewable energy.

Farooq, who faced humiliating defeat for the first time in the last held Lok-Sabha polls, is still the Member of Parliament from Srinagar on the party’s official website, while the fact is the Srinagar parliament seat is presently represented by People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader, Tariq Hamid Qarra.
Qarra defeated Dr Farooq by a huge margin in the last polls and it was Farooq’s first defeat in his long political career.
Not only this, other senior NC leaders Mehboob Beg, Sharief-u-Din  Shariq are also the parliament members from south and north Kashmir Lok-Sabha seats.
The ruling party seems in “shock” after the massive Lok-Sabha defeat and has even forgotten to update its website; despite the party has a strong group of people managing its media cell and website.
The NC’s official website while showered praises on its party chief in its description part says Farooq “like recipient of `Dr. B.C. Roy Award` as a medical man-cum-statesman and D Litt. (Honoris Causa) from Aligarh Muslim University”, but it has forgotten to change his portfolio.
Farooq, though not in reality, enjoys this portfolio on his official website. The website also gives an impression that Farooq Abdullah is a lifetime member parliament from Srinagar constituency.
“It puts it like this Farooq Abdullah is the member parliament from, 31 May 2009 onwards…”, while the fact is the NC strongman lost to PDP by some 40,000 votes. The last defeat was Farooq’s first defeat in his 38 year political career.
Farooq’s other colleagues, Mehboob Beg and Sharief-u-Din Shariq are still the MP’s but only on their party’s official website. Both Beg and Shariq lost by some 60,000 votes and 40 thousand votes respectively, against PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti and Muzzafar Hussain Beg respectively.
