Talking to media persons at North Kashmir’s Qalamabad area, the Director General of Police (DGP) maintained that the priority for the police is to ensure holding peaceful elections and “if anyone is found disrupting the law and order situation, action in accordance to the law will be taken.”
The state police chief maintained that the poll process starting from November 25 must end with the peaceful note. “The effort of police is to identify the militant activities and then to neutralize it. More militants were neutralized this year as compared to that of the previous year and police prioritized its activists to foil the militant attacks,” he said.
The DGP was flanked by IGP Kashmir A G Mir, SP Handwara Ghulam Jeelani Wani, SDPO Mir Afrooz and other senior police officials while inaugurating the new building at Police station Qalam-abad.
Pertinently, police ahead of the state elections launched a massive crackdown on separatist camp with the leaders of most of the pro-freedom leaders detained. (KNS)
