Budgam firing: Army indicts 9 soldiers for killing two Kashmiri youths
Srinagar: The Indian Army has indicted nine soldiers including a Junior Commissioned Officer of 53 Rashtriya Rifles for killing two youth in Chattergam Chadoora area of Budgam district on November 3.
The army completed its inquiry into the firing incident in which two Kashmiri youths had lost their lives, while two others were injured and
found gross violation by the jawans.
The Court of Inquiry recommended court martial proceedings against them.
Faisal Yusuf son of Muhammad Yusuf and Mehraj-u-din Dar son Ghulam Muhammad of Chattergam were killed while two other youth
critically injured after soldiers of Army’s 53 RR opened fire on a Maruti car.
After the incident took place, a case was registered by the police while a
court of inquiry was ordered by the army into the killings.
The firing incident triggered rage across the state and condemnation. The army, terming the incident as "unfortunate" had promised a
thorough probe into the incident.
According to sources, reports says, the indicted soldiers are likely to face life imprisonment and lose all service benefits.
