'Army helped 200 students secure varsity admission in 2 years in J&K'

Jammu: In the past two years, the Army has assisted more than 200 students from the economically weaker section in Chenab Valley
region of J&K in getting free-of-cost admission to various universities under PM's Special Scholarship Scheme.

"The Delta Force of the Army has assisted around 200 students from the Economically Weaker Section in securing free admission under Prime
Minister's special scholarship scheme in 2013 and 2014 in various universities across the country," an Army officer said at a function
organsied to welcome a group of 10 girl students who were sent on an educational tour by the Army.

Speaking on the occasion, General Officer Commanding of the Nagrota based 16 Corps of the Army Lt Gen K H Singh congratulated the girls on successful completion of the tour.

He exhorted the young girls to work hard and achieve whatever they dreamt of in their lives.

The ten-day tour comprising girl students of Bhaderwah was flagged off on November 8 from Batote by General Officer Commanding, Delta
(Force).

During the tour, the girls visited cultural and historical places at Jaipur, Delhi and Jammu.

The girls were also taken to universities in Jaipur and Greater Noida to interact with students from
their state pursuing courses in the universities.
