Wani defends son posing with AK-47, says he wants to join police force
New Delhi: National Conference (NC) leader Nasir Aslam Wani on Wednesday came out in defence of his son after pictures of him holding a gun went viral and said that he always had a passion to join police force .
“My son has a passion to join police force and serve the nation. The gun was not loaded and merely holding it does not amount to any violation,” Wani said while talking to an English news channel.
The close aide of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah added that the issue is being blown out of proportion and there have been several instances in which civilians have been seen holding guns as well.
“Dragging children into such controversy is unfortunate,” he further said.
Wani's minor son was seen posing with AK-47 in pictures while standing next to armed personnel.
NC was also quick to defend Wani's son and said that the pictures have been blown out of proportion.
Wani was recently in the midst of controversy himself after pictures of him kicking a party worker in Abdullah's home constituency Ganderbal surfaced.
He later denied the incident and said that the video footage was doctored.
