J&K attacks: 6 AK-47, 32 grenades, 55 magazines recovered from militants

Srinagar: The poll-bound state of Jammu and Kashmir was rocked by four terror attacks on Friday. The Pakistan-backed militants were
heavily armed to carry out the attacks in Uri, Sophian, Soura and Tral.

In the operation in Jammu and Kashmir, the Army men recovered 55 magazines, six AK-47 assault rifles, 32 grenades, night-vision
binoculars and two shotguns from the dead militants. Apart from the arms and ammunition, several food packets were also found with the
militants.

In Soura, two militants, intercepted at a police post, opened fire. Both militants were killed in an exchange of fire. The Army identified of the
dead militant as a top commander of the Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba.

In Uri, 100 kms away from Srinagar, militants opened fire after entering an Army camp on Friday morning killing eight soldiers. The militants were gunned down after an intense
gunbattle.

The third attack and fourth attacks took place in Sophian and Tral where the militants hruled grenades and killed one civilian and injured
several others.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is due to campaign on Monday in Srinagar.
