50,000 FIRs registered with police

Flood devastation

Srinagar: After floods wreaked havoc in most places of Kashmir, more than 50,000 FIRs have been registered in different police stations of Srinagar regarding the damage of property faced by locals.
Since past one and a half month people across the state who have suffered damage of their property have been rushing to their respective police station and are registering FIRs regarding the damage to their property.



Police station Pampore has so far received huge number of application from the people in Srinagar district. It has received 7000 application from the locals falling under its jurisdiction.
Similarly in Shaheed Gunj area which was inundated for weeks together last month, the police station so far registered more than 6000 FIRs from the locals who have suffered huge loss of property.
 Rajbagh which has recorded huge damage of property and loss of lives in the Srinagar city, the local police station has received morethan 4000 application from people.
Police station Shergari, Karanagar, Batmaloo Kothi bagh has registered
1328, 350, 500,1900 FIRs respectively.
Police station Nageen has received  more than 2400 application, similarly  Nowgam, Kral Khod, Qamarwari, Nehru Park an Chanpora has received 4000,2800 ,400,970,1565 application respectively.
Further there are reports that many other police station have received application in thousands which have been put before the concerned authorities for further investigations.
It is worth to mention that the flood victims have registered the loss of property including houses, shops, cow sheds and damage to movable property like cars etc. in these police stations.
Now when the flood victims have registered FIRs in different police station, they have decried the government’s mode of rehabilitation which according to them is ‘lethargic’.
 “Nearly more than one and a half month has passed since floods hit most of Kashmir but government is yet to rehabilitate flood victims completely. How many months we have to wait further so that we could built our homes?” said Ghulam Qadir a local.
