Ministers’ face peoples wrath
Srinagar: Post flood, it seems that most of the ministers, mainly from the National Conference have been facing ire of the people for their (ministers’) failure to reach to the affected people.
According to the reports, while many of the ministers feel shy of visiting their respective constituencies Minister for Higher education Muhammad Akbar Lone tops the list of having faced the most stone pelting incidents in the last couple of years.

From the past one year, there have been half a dozen incidents when Lone’s cavalcade was attacked by angry mob while on his visit to Sonawari constituency.
Reportedly people from Sonawari constituency during the past few months have resented the concerned MLA who repeatedly had to face ire from public.
The minsters cavalcade has been stopped by public many times who have been protesting against him for many reasons.
With this the Sonawari constituency of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district is becoming a matter of worry for ruling National Conference (NC) as its concerned MLA is alarmingly losing feet in the constituency during past few months.
On Saturday the cavalcade of Muhammad Akbar Lone was stoned by youth in Hajin town of Bandipora district after he was returning from Makadyari, where he met flood-hit people.
“The youths had information’s about Lone’s arrival from the village and once he reached Hajin Bridge, they resorted to heavy stone pelting,” an eyewitness said adding police chased away the stone-throwers.
“However, the youths also pelted stones on police ensuing brief clashes after which police fired several tear smoke shells,” he said.
Before this, Lone was attacked on March 21 by a group of unidentified youth as a resentment of the killing in Shahgund area of Bandipora district.
In a similar attack, many police men including a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and a Station House Officer (SHO) were among 30 persons injured in Bandipora district after the ministers cavalcade was attacked by angry demonstrations in April while on his way to attend a workers meet.
Similarly Lone was attacked by angry mob in September. Last year on December 26, Lone was attacked by agitated youth after attending a workers meet at Sadarkot Bala in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
Lone at that time had visited Sadarkot Bala to attend a meeting of National Conference workers.
As the meeting was over locals from the area resented the minster with stones.
Earlier in June last year, Lone cavalcade was attacked by stone pelters in North Kashmir’s Hajin area of Bandipora. The Minister at that time was visiting the area to condole the demise of a political activist.
His cavalcade after reaching near Shah-Gund Hajin was attacked heavily with stone which smashed the window panes of some of his vehicles.
