Can’t reveal marks, it exposes secrecy:SSB
Candidates smell foul
Srinagar: The State Service Selection Board (SSB) is again in the news for all the wrong reasons as the recent selection list of the general line teachers issued by the board is under the scanner. The final list, which was announced on September 24 is said to be full of errors as the “degrees of scores of applicants” were not taken into account during the finalisation of the selection list.
The aspirants who have been dropped allege that Bachelor of Education (B Ed), which is the basic and necessary degree for the post, has not been considered. “We don’t what ways and logic has been applied to select the candidates,” they said.
The aspirants who have been dropped allege that Bachelor of Education (B Ed), which is the basic and necessary degree for the post, has not been considered. “We don’t what ways and logic has been applied to select the candidates,” they said.
Official sources also confirmed that all was not well as some “blue eyed candidates have been selected”.
“There is a massive outcry over the list. The dropped candidate’s every-day visit the SSB office and demand the points to be made public, but the officials deny the same,” they said.
Some of the candidates told Kashmir Monitor that ‘blue-eyed’ persons were selected while the deserving ones were out rightly dropped. The SSB released the list on September 24. “SSB adopted nepotism during the selection process.
Thousands of the candidates had applied for the posts which were notified by the SSB in 2012, under the notification 03 of 2012/271. In 2013, SSB issued another similar notification wherein the interested candidates were asked to apply for the teacher posts.
“1100 candidates were later short listed and were called for the interviews,” said the candidates.
On September 24, this year, final selection list was issued, which according to several candidates was a reflection of ‘partiality’ and ‘favoritism’.
“Our simple demand is the results of the final selection along with the scored points to be made public. We urge the state government to look into the matter on priority so that justice is delivered,” said the drop out candidates.
When contacted the Chairperson SSB, Shugufta Parveen said, “I can’t make the marks scored by the drop-out candidate’s public. It will expose our secrecy,” she told Kashmir Monitor over phone.
When asked what was the logic in not making public the details of the points scored by these candidates if they demand so, she said,“You have not understood the system of SSB very well,” she said.
