Congress accuses BJP of meeting separatists in poll-bound J&K

New Delhi: Congress on Friday accused BJP of seeking to compromise with separatists in Jammu and Kashmir for the sake of power in the poll- bound state.

"Today there is a talk of an understanding with them in view of elections. You can sup with devil
for elections... This is a betrayal of the nation," party spokesman Salman Khurshid told reporters referring to reported statements made by Union
minister and BJP leader Kiren Rijiju.

Khurshid said that the Congress has made great sacrifices for the cause of Kashmir. "These are not only political sacrifices, but greater
sacrifices".

Rijiju denied having said anything on Kashmir separatists or polls.

"I have neither spoken anything on Jammu and Kashmir polls nor have I spoken about separatists. There is no question of compromising on the country's security and integrity. If
anyone takes law into his hands we will deal firmly," he told PTI.

BJP has also denied having met separatists in Jammu and Kashmir in the run-up to assembly elections.
