Macchil fake encounter case: Army punishes anyone who doesn't go by procedure, says Parrikar

Vasco: Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said here on Friday that the punishment given to
those found guilty in the Macchil fake encounter case shows that the Army punishes anyone who
doesn't follow procedure.

The Army has handed the life sentence to five of its personnel in connection with Machil fake encounter case of three youths in Jammu and Kashmir in 2010.

In April, 2010, the Army had killed three youths in the Machil sector and claimed they were Pakistani militants.

However, they were later identified as the residents of Baramulla district. The incident had sparked widespread protests in the Valley.
